Ian is an experienced manager having worked for over 30 years in different management roles in the private, third and public sectors both operationally and strategically. Ian is a creative and innovative thinker and doer with a strong proven track record of community & business development.
Ian led Northamptonshire’s YMCA through a 16 fold increase in turn-over over a six year period to 2002, an achievement recognized by winning the Northamptonshire Small Business of the Year award at that time. He also developed three new accommodation centres which became national flagship centres for homeless provision.
As Operations Manager at Connexions Ian developed a unique & successful model for engaging with voluntary organisations, winning praise from Government Office of the East Midlands and a National Carers Award for engaging with disadvantaged young people.
Working as a volunteer, Ian is currently project managing the annual Umbrella Fair in Northampton, which attracts over 27,000 people to its summer environmental awareness community event and engages over 300 volunteers and 200 performers each year.
Ian has a foundation degree in Managing Voluntary & Community Sector Organisations and an NVQ4 in Management. He is an experienced trainer and facilitator, drawing on his wealth of experience of managing people, projects and of community development.
