Community Enterprise: Start building your business today
Thinking about turning your ideas and skills into a social or community enterprise? Or perhaps you haven’t considered setting up your own business yet? Wondering what’s involved? Like to know more? Or perhaps you’ve made a start but have got stuck and don’t quite know what to do next?
If so, come to a free workshop run by EASI and learn how you can take your ideas for enterprise to the next stage, earn some cash and do some good all at the same time.
The workshops are a series designed to help communities develop enterprising solutions to local needs. See the EASI Enterprise Club for dates and opportunities to join more detailed workshops providing support to individuals and groups that are interested in pursuing their ideas further.
Our board game Action 4 Community Enterprise (ACE) allows everyone to play a part in bringing new social and community enterprise to life. Come along, play a different game and let us know what you think
Funding cuts mean that communities will need to quickly learn and apply enterprise skills relevant in helping solve local problems.
We’ll introduce you to Action 4 Community Enterprise; explain how to play the game and why you should.
We’ll also talk about the social impact and benefits that community enterprise unlocks and how this might be measured to help attract funding; so that good ideas can become projects and businesses that produce real benefits for local people.
People that want to explore their ideas further are invited to join the EASI Enterprise Club – a new peer support club for social entrepreneurs that will meet regularly in Northampton to support the growth and development of social and community enterprise across the town.
Who should attend
These workshops assume no prior knowledge of business, just an interest and perhaps an idea or two that you’ve been thinking about. The sessions are aimed at individuals, groups, organisations and communities that are interested in learning how to set up a community or social enterprise and sharing skills and experience.
We start with the premise that everyone has at least one good idea and some of these ideas have good business potential but people may lack the essential knowledge and confidence to go beyond thinking about it. This short workshop will provide you with the opportunity to consider your options and decide if you want to take your ideas further.
Workshops are continuing and being scheduled now and will run regularly through to the summer. See our events page for dates
